Annual Fund Donations Enable Us to Provide:

Livestrong at the YMCA

A 12-week health & wellness program for cancer survivors, offered free of charge. In 2023 over 20 participants have strengthened body, mind, and spirit as part of Livestrong at the YMCA.

Affordable Housing

Newton Corner Place gives vulnerable residents a safe place to land. As the only single resident occupancy development in the city, we fill a critical housing gap.

A Second Home for All

As an anchor institution serving Newton and surrounding communities, the Y acts quickly to respond to pressing needs. Through historic expansion over the past year, 1-in-4 local children have benefited from the Y's services over the past year.

Access & Opportunity

Financial aid is just one way the Y stays open to all. Through adaptive programs and partnerships, we support individuals with a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and sensory needs to develop self-confidence, learn critical skills, and build healthy habits.

You Can Make a Difference.

$2,500 Helps a child thrive in the Y’s Preschool Center for Youth Development. All children deserve to learn, play, and grow in one of our high-quality classrooms, and the Y makes sure that financial circumstances are never an obstacle.

$1,000 Enables a cancer survivor to grow in strength of body, mind, and spirit. LiveStrong at the YMCA – our specially designed 12-week program- can be offered at no cost to participants because of the generosity of our community.

$500 Ensures that a child can experience the magic of summer camp. At camp, kids develop as leaders, build lasting friendships, and have good, old-fashioned fun. No child should miss out because of their family’s financial circumstances.

$250 Helps the Y become a home. Our programming, staffing, and support enables residents of Newton Corner Place to find a stable and safe place to land during challenging times.

$100 Provides learners with critical water safety skills that reduce the risk of drowning.

Gifts of all Sizes Make our entire community stronger by letting us say “yes” to anyone who will benefit from our services but can’t afford to participate without some extra help.

Annual Fund

Donations to the West Suburban YMCA’s Annual Fund support our commitment to keeping our facility open to all, regardless of ability to pay. Our Annual Fund provides financial aid to children, adults, seniors, and families that offers a safe space for youth development, programs for healthier living, and opportunities for social responsibility within our community.

Capital Gifts

We are stewards of our properties in Newton, Wayland, and East Brookfield and remain committed to maintaining and improving them, so they benefit generations to come. Capital gifts present a powerful opportunity for those who wish to support the bricks and mortar that enable us to make a sustainable impact on children, families, and active older adults.

Planned Giving

A healthy Y capable of making a significant impact in the community is a gift we have received from prior generations, and it is a gift we should pass along, in a stronger position, to future generations. When you consider the Y in your estate planning, we work with you and your professional experts to formulate plans that will fulfill your desire to benefit future generations of children and families in our community through the Y. For more information on planned giving options, click here.

Special Events

The West Suburban YMCA’s two signature events – our Golf Tournament and Gala – pack a one-two punch. Each event gives our community a chance to come together and celebrate all that the Y does, while also supporting our Annual Fund. Our wide range of sponsorship opportunities add the extra bonus of letting the community know what you support. We invite you to join us as a guest or as a sponsor on the course or around the dinner table. To learn more about these events and more, click here.

Boston Marathon

For the past two years, the Y has received an invitational bib from the City of Newton to participate in the Boston Marathon. Our marathon runners commit to raising $7,500 for our Annual Fund and look to our greater Y community for help in reaching that goal. To learn more, click here.

All donors to our Annual Fund are recognized in our Annual Report and our digital donor wall, which can be viewed on screens at both Y branches. In addition, event and year-round sponsors are recognized in many ways in print materials, social media, and event promotions. Major and capital gifts may also be recognized with naming opportunities at one of our properties.

Gifts of $1,000 or more to our Annual Fund are eligible to become part of the Champion’s Club (formerly Banner Club), recognized with a banner (54” x 34”) for one year in the Church St Y or a framed poster (36” x 24”) in the Wells Ave Y. We strive to recognize donors in ways that are meaningful to each individual. Please contact our team to discuss further.
