The Out-Of-School Time (OST) program at the West Suburban YMCA offers a dynamic and well-rounded afterschool program that provides time for academic support, physical activities and games, free swim, enrichment, and more.

Program Overview
We're committed to making a difference in the lives of every child and family who choose the Y for afterschool care. OST provides learning experiences that are engaging and developmentally appropriate, focused on social and emotional growth, and emphasize self-confidence, self-esteem, and leadership, while also encouraging independence. When your children attend OST, they will experience:

Out of School Time (OST) is structured to support and complement the Newton Public Schools schedule, including early release days. Please note the information on this page is subject to change pending modifications to the Newton Public Schools academic schedule.

A two-day minimum enrollment is required. Enrollment is ongoing and children may register any time of year, provided there is space in the program.
Sibling Discount: Receive 10% off when enrolling a second child.
Financial Assistance: Tuition assistance opportunities are available and can be applied for on a confidential basis. We also accept Massachusetts State vouchers.

For a child to enroll in Out-of-School Time (OST) they need to:
- Attend Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Have a current West Suburban YMCA Youth or Household membership during registration and throughout enrollment in the program.
- Complete the Out-of-School Time registration/enrollment packet
- Deposit a Non-Refundable $200 payment, which will be credited to your child’s first tuition payment.
- Submit a current physical dated no later than 12 months from enrollment (physical must remain current at all times while child is enrolled)
- A copy of your child’s current immunizations
- Allergy/Chronic Illness: If your child has an allergy or chronic illness an Individual Health Care Form is required before your child can start in the program.
Please note that this documentation is required by the Department of Early Education and Care through the State of Massachusetts and your child may not start the program until the documentation is obtained.
Enrollment in our program is open to all; we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, marital status, cultural heritage, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs or disability.
- Transportation to the Y from Burr, Bowen, Cabot, Franklin, Horace-Mann, Mason Rice, Lincoln-Eliot, and Zervas schools is available via bus or van for a fee of $12/day.
- Transportation to the Y from Underwood School is available via chaperoned walking route at no extra charge.
