At the YMCA, people always come first. We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support our staff in working more efficiently and thoughtfully, including drafting communications, analyzing data, and improving accessibility.
All AI-assisted work is reviewed and approved by our staff before publication or use. We do not rely on AI to make final decisions related to individuals, program eligibility, pricing, or member services. AI helps us better serve our community while ensuring that human judgment, care, and accountability guide every decision we make.
Privacy & Data Protection
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not share sensitive or personal member data with AI tools. We follow strict privacy and data protection practices to safeguard your information and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Why is the YMCA using AI?
We use AI tools to help staff work more efficiently- for example, by drafting communications, analyzing data, or improving accessibility. AI helps us serve our community better, but we always keep human judgment in the loop.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. We do not share sensitive or personal member data with AI tools. We follow strict privacy rules to protect your information.
Does AI make decisions about me?
No. AI may help staff organize or summarize information, but important decisions are always made by people, not machines.
Can AI be wrong or biased?
Sometimes. That’s why we train our staff to double-check AI results and avoid unfair bias. We also review AI content carefully before sharing it.
What if something goes wrong?
If AI is ever misused- intentionally or by accident- staff are required to report it immediately. We take these issues seriously and follow up quickly.
How do you keep AI use ethical?
We have a clear policy that all staff must follow. It includes rules about fairness, accuracy, privacy, and respectful use. Staff also receive training on responsible AI use.
