Lifeguard Training

Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs

Must complete Time Event Test in 1 minute and 40 seconds

Blended Learning Lifeguard Training Course Pre-Requisites: 

  • At least 15 years of age.
  • Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
  • Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. 
  • Must complete the timed event test in 1 minute and 40 seconds (goggles may not be used): 
    • Start in water, swim 20 yards.
    • Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10lb object.
    • Surface and swim the 20 yards on back with both hands holding the object.
    • Exit without use of a ladder or stairs.

To receive certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid: 

  • Must complete the required 7-hour online training PRIOR to the in-person skill sessions.
  • Must complete and pass ALL practical portions of the course. 
  • Receive 80% of higher on each portion of the written exams.
