Lifeguard Training
Students must be at least 15 years of age
Must be able to swim
Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
Must complete Time Event Test in 1 minute and 40 seconds
Blended Learning Lifeguard Training Course Pre-Requisites:
- At least 15 years of age.
- Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
- Must complete the timed event test in 1 minute and 40 seconds (goggles may not be used):
- Start in water, swim 20 yards.
- Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10lb object.
- Surface and swim the 20 yards on back with both hands holding the object.
- Exit without use of a ladder or stairs.
To receive certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid:
- Must complete the required 7-hour online training PRIOR to the in-person skill sessions.
- Must complete and pass ALL practical portions of the course.
- Receive 80% of higher on each portion of the written exams.
