On Saturday, May 11th, families from Newton and neighboring towns gathered at the Church St YMCA in Newton, MA for a day of fun and healthy activities at the annual Healthy Kids Day event. Hosted by the West Suburban YMCA, this free event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and provide families with an enjoyable start to the summer season.

The Church St YMCA was buzzing with excitement as over 200 children and parents participated in a variety of family-friendly activities. The event featured an obstacle course, arts and crafts, games, and even a kid’s DJ to keep everyone entertained. Snacks were provided to keep energy levels up, ensuring participants could fully enjoy the festivities.

Councilor Marc Laredo from Ward 7 joined over 200 attendees, emphasizing the community's support for initiatives promoting health and well-being.

The first 100 children through the doors received a special gift, adding to the excitement of the day.

Families had the opportunity to engage in various activities, including relay races, fitness courses, face painting, crafts, and even an inflatable obstacle course. Additionally, Lego Robotics and the Connecticut Museum of Science's 'Science of Bubbles' demonstrations sparked curiosity and learning among attendees of all ages. The event provided a platform for families to come together, have fun, and prioritize health and well-being as they kick-started the summer season.
