New Walking Path Opens at the Wells Ave Y

We’re thrilled to announce the completion of a brand-new walking path behind the Wells Avenue Y in Newton, MA. Connecting members to outdoor pickleball and campers to Camp Wells' upper field just got a whole lot easier. Designed to support mobility and safety for people of all ages, this new feature helps connect more outdoor spaces with ease and comfort.
The path features a wide, smoothly paved surface, sturdy handrails along key sections, and new lighting to support visibility during early mornings and evenings. A gentle grade ensures a safe and steady route, and beautiful landscaping adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Features of the New Walking Path
The new path offers several key features that reflect our commitment to accessibility and member experience:
- Wide paved surface for comfortable and safe foot traffic
- Sturdy handrails along key areas for added support
- Energy-efficient lighting for improved visibility
- Gentle grade for a smooth and steady ascent
- Beautiful landscaping to enhance the outdoor environment
Serving Campers, Members, and the Community
The path leads from the main building up to our outdoor pickleball courts and the upper field—home to Camp Wells during the summer months. Campers walk this path with their groups and counselors to reach outdoor activities and games. The new path provides a secure and reliable route for kids to navigate camp with ease.
“This path is a great example of how we continue to improve the Y experience for all ages,” said Jack Fucci, President and CEO of the West Suburban YMCA. “It enhances safety, supports accessibility, and connects our community to more of the outdoor spaces that makes our branches so special.”
