Cool Off and Connect This Summer: Free Saturdays at the West Suburban YMCA

Summer is here—and the West Suburban YMCA wants to make it even better for you and your family. Starting this July, both of our Newton locations will open their doors every Saturday for Free Summer Saturdays, giving the community full access to Y facilities at no cost. Yes, completely free!
Whether you’re looking to beat the heat with a swim, join a group workout, or just explore what the Y has to offer, Free Summer Saturdays are your chance to dive in.
What You Can Enjoy
Every Saturday in July and August, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, guests of all ages can enjoy:
- Full access to indoor pools for lap swimming and kid-friendly open swim during select times (see our pool schedule)
- Basketball courts for pick-up games or just shooting around
- A variety of group fitness classes (see our group exercise calendar)
- The latest equipment in our well-equipped fitness centers
- Indoor and outdoor pickleball at the Wells Avenue Y (please note: pickleball is only available at this location)
You’ll also get to experience our welcoming and supportive Y community—something our members often say is the most special part of being here.
No Membership? No Problem.
Free Summer Saturdays are open to everyone—no membership or registration required. Just bring a valid photo ID and check in at the Welcome Center. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
It’s the perfect opportunity to try out a new class, splash around with your kids, or see why so many people choose the West Suburban YMCA as their community hub for wellness, play, and connection.
Where to Go
We have two branches in Newton participating in Free Summer Saturdays:
- Church Street YMCA – 276 Church Street, Newton, MA
- Wells Avenue YMCA – 135 Wells Avenue, Newton, MA
Both locations offer a wide range of amenities and friendly staff ready to help you make the most of your visit.
Why We’re Doing This
At the Y, our mission is to strengthen the foundations of community by supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all. That means ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need to live healthier, more connected lives. Free Summer Saturdays are just one way we’re opening our doors wider and inviting you to be a part of what makes the Y so special.
We hope you’ll stop by this summer—and bring a friend!
