Mark Your Calendar: Registration Opens April 28 for Preschool & After School at the West Suburban YMCA 

Families looking for high-quality care and enrichment for their children are invited to enroll in the West Suburban YMCA’s Preschool and Out-of-School Time (OST) programs- registration for new families begins Monday, April 28! 

Whether you're seeking a nurturing preschool environment to support early childhood development or a fun, engaging after-school experience for your elementary and middle school-aged student, the Y offers programs that prioritize safety, learning, and personal growth in a values-based setting. 

Preschool at the Y: A Strong Start for Young Learners 

The WSYMCA Preschool Program offers a warm and stimulating environment for children ages 2.9–5 years. Our licensed, play-based program is designed to build confidence, creativity, and school readiness through hands-on learning and personalized attention. 

With small class sizes, flexible 2-, 3-, or 5-day scheduling, and hours from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, our preschool supports working families while helping children develop socially, emotionally, and academically. The curriculum includes literacy, math, art, science, music, and even weekly swim and gym classes—all aligned with Massachusetts State Guidelines for Early Learning. 

Out-of-School Time (OST): After-School Fun & Learning 

The Y’s Out-of-School Time program provides a safe and supportive space for children in grades K–8 after the school day ends. With convenient transportation from several Newton elementary schools, OST combines homework support, recreation, creative arts, STEM activities, and character development—all led by trained and caring staff. 

OST operates from school dismissal until 6:00 PM and aligns with the Newton Public School calendar. Plus, families can register for early release days, vacation weeks, and school holidays for even more coverage throughout the year.
