On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Wells Ave Y was bustling with activity as volunteers came together to turn compassion into action. Over 30 dedicated individuals joined us in assembling family meal kits, making a tangible impact on our community. Thanks to their efforts, nearly 100 meal kits were assembled to help families in need.

Dr. King’s vision of unity and service inspires us every day, and this MLK Day was no exception. The meal kits, thoughtfully packed by our volunteers, include pantry items and recipes for chili dinners, tuna bakes, and spaghetti dinners to help families facing food insecurity. These meal kits are a small but meaningful way to show care and support for our neighbors.

If you or someone you know could benefit from a family meal kit, please visit the front desk at either of our locations:

  • 276 Church Street, Newton
  • 135 Wells Avenue, Newton

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible volunteers and everyone who donated to the food drive for the meals. Your kindness and commitment embody Dr. King’s belief that “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” By stepping up to serve, you’ve made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Let’s continue to honor Dr. King’s legacy by supporting one another and creating a stronger, more united community. Thank you for making MLK Day a day of service and hope at the Y!
