West Suburban YMCA Hosts MLK Day Food Drive and Service Event
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the West Suburban YMCA invites the community to join in a meaningful day of service, combining a food drive and a hands-on volunteer opportunity to support families in need.
Food Drive Details:
To kick off the initiative, the Y is hosting a food drive to collect essential ingredients for family meal kits. Community members are encouraged to contribute canned or boxed items, such as pasta, rice, canned vegetables, or sauce. See full list, below. Donations can be dropped off at either WSYMCA branch through Friday, January 19.
MLK Day Service Event:
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 20, the West Suburban YMCA will host a service event at the Wells Ave Y to assemble the collected food into family meal kits. The event will begin at 11 AM and offers participants an opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy by making a tangible difference in the community.
This day of service reflects the YMCA's commitment to fostering a sense of community, equity, and giving back. Your participation helps ensure that families in need have access to nourishing meals.
