Youth development is at the core of our mission, driving us to create impactful programs that foster growth, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Whether it’s in our preschool classroom, Out-of-School Time program, or at one of our four camps, we believe in nurturing each child’s potential to help them thrive.

For one parent, Darlene, the YMCA has been more than just a place for her children to learn and play—it has been a lifeline. Her family’s journey with the Y began seven years ago, and the impact has been profound.

“When my family relocated to the United States, I knew I needed to find a stable, safe, and encouraging environment for my children outside of school hours,” Darlene shared. “I discovered the YMCA and was grateful to learn about their financial assistance programs. This support made it possible for me to enroll my children at the Y, transforming our experience in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I hoped that the Y would help us feel rooted in the community, and I quickly found that the Y IS our community. The friendships, support, and opportunities we’ve gained have truly enriched our lives.”

Darlene’s words reflect the heart of what we strive to achieve every day. Financial assistance at the Y isn’t just about affordability—it’s about access, inclusion, and creating a sense of belonging for families who need it most. Through this support, children are given the opportunity to participate fully in programs that help them grow, while parents find a trusted partner in building strong foundations for their family.

Stories like Darlene’s remind us why we do what we do: to ensure every child and family has the chance to thrive, regardless of circumstance.
